Have you ever eaten a bag of chips when you're stressed, or a chocolate bar after a long day of work at school even though you're not hungry at all? This situation is called "Unnecessary eating"; it is when you're using food to help you deal with stress. However, if this situation happens frequently, it can have a negative effect on one's health and weight because most people will eat unhealthy food like chips and candies.
The first step to deal with unnecessary eating is to identify the cause/trigger. Is it because of stress, boredom, habits, fatigue, or influence? The next step is to learn to counteract the triggers. A way for all the triggers is to think about the consequences every time you're about to eat; like becoming fat. A bag of chips contains a lot of sodium, which is harmful to your heart and veins. If you're dealing with stress, boredom, or fatigue, just go outside and play some sports or just get some fresh air. Start a hobby like reading an exciting book or walking your dog. Take a nap is a great way too, most people often feel better after a good nap. If your friends encourage you to eat, just politely decline them and tell them that you're on a diet. In my opinion, the best way is to just stop buying junk food. If the food isn't there, you're not going to eat anything. You can also change up the things you eat. When watching a movie, munch on some baby carrots instead! After reading my post, I hope you successfully stop unnecessary eating. I can't stress this enough, but unnecessary eating is a really bad thing to do; so, I hope my tips will help you stop. You may find it hard at first, but trust me, it will pay off.
