My W's and L's So Far this School Year

So far, grade nine has been an amazing year. I am proud of myself because I have achieved many great things this year.

When the school announced that the application was out, I knew that I had to try my very best to try to get in. I spent my whole weekend typing my biography and revising it every night until I thought it was perfect. On the day of the entry test, I was so nervous that it felt like there were butterflies in my stomach; but I was relieved after the test because I thought I did a great job. When I received the letter that decides if I got accepted or not, I was afraid of the results; because if I don't get accepted, I would be very disappointed for the rest of the day. Instead, I waited until I got home to open the letter. After I found out that I was accepted, I was so delighted that I punched the air. I even called my grandma that lives in Taiwan to tell her the good news. Getting into prelude is just the beginning; in the future, I will have to work twice as hard if I want to get into IB.

While making those achievements, I also had some failures at the same time. I guess my biggest failure this year was not beating my grade eight time in the Langara run. On the day of the run, I was confident that I was going to beat my best time because I had an adequate breakfast and lunch.  The weather was sunny, and the temperature was just right. I started the run off strong, maintained a decent pace throughout the whole run, and made sure no one passes me. Near the end of the run, I sprinted using all the energy that's left in me and passed the finish line. Unexpectedly, I did not beat my grade eight time. I was stunned; like the time when the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead.

There are still four months to go until it's summer. In the four months, I must work hard so I can achieve more things and avoid taking L's; and I hope I successfully beat my grade eight Langara time in term three.
